Located about 25 miles outside of Salem, the annual Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Woodburn is something that can’t be missed. It’s fun for the whole family!
The obvious draw to this festival is the 40 acres of tulip fields at the Wooden Shoe Tulip farm. Stroll down endless rows of these gorgeous flowers in full bloom, take in the spectacular view of Mt Hood and don’t forget your camera!
There are so many different activities and events going on during this 6 week period. With daily admission you can expect access to the tulip beds, onsite food, a garden and greenhouse to enjoy, tons of displays, tram and hayrides to and from the fields and so much more! Best of all there is an amazing children’s play area. Kids 12 and under are free!
We went on a Friday so there were a lot of extra weekend activities going on. The weather was perfect. Cool, but not cold. Beautiful cloudy sky, no rain. We were lucky!
The children’s area is set up right in the center of the festival. My kids immediately spotted the old fashioned water pump duck races and went right for them! This was serious business. They don’t mess around when it comes to ducks and water.
Next it was on to the climbing/slide structure!
There are tire swings, farm slides, sandboxes, hay bale forts and all kinds of fun stuff!
Plan on getting dirty!!
On the weekend there a lot of extra special activities!
Pony rides, a bounce house, trampolines, a high jump, rock wall and a local balloon artist to name a few!
Though the children’s area is free, most of these weekend activities cost extra.
When it was all said and done we ended up spending SO much more time here than expected. We were really impressed by how much there was to do! The kids had an amazing time!!
If you get a chance- you really should check this festival out! It runs until May 1st.
