Delicious Eats: The Shortcake Stand (& Playground) at E.Z. Orchards Farm Market

By Emy Sloan

The shortcake stand at E.Z. Orchards Farm Market is one of the BEST places in Salem to enjoy a fresh seasonal treat. They offer sundaes, milkshakes, ice cream cones, espresso and more! Of course they’re most famous for their giant shortcakes. Served up on fresh shortcake or sweet biscuits, with a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream, fresh fruit topping & whipping cream, they’re definitely something to put on your summer bucket list!

The strawberries arrive in late May. There are blueberries, marionberries and raspberries in July and peaches in August. Yum.

When we heard that the strawberries were ready and that the stand was finally open we packed everyone up and made a play date out of it!

Did I mention that they have a great playground?

The kids had the best time playing on the huge barn-like structure and tractor in the children’s play area. They made a few new friends and were able to brush up on their rock climbing skills! There were plenty of benches and shaded picnic tables that made it easy for the parents to sit comfortably and chat while watching them play.

When they were all tired out and about ready to go home we surprised them with a final stop at the shortcake stand (which they were completely oblivious of up until that moment!)

Fresh sweet biscuit strawberry shortcakes!

…Minds. Blown.

It was a very good day.
