Honestly, what’s not to love about the fall? It’s such a comfy, cozy, spooky season. The air is cool and crisp, the autumn leaves are gorgeous, the apples are crunchy and the drinks are hot…ahhh. But one of the best things about the fall is that the pumpkin patches are in full swing!
We love pumpkin patches. We try to visit a different one each year. There are just so many great farms in the area to pick from! Yesterday we decided to check out Vince Woods Farms for the first time and I’m SO happy that we did.
Located on the outskirts of Northeast Salem, this small family farm has been in operation for over 50 years. It’s got such a warm and welcoming feel to it. The attractions are simple and sweet, affordable and extremely kid-friendly! Besides the pumpkins (and various squash, gourds, ornamental corn and other items for sale) there is a pumpkin forest, haunted caboose and a hay maze!
The price to get into the pumpkin forest (which includes the trip through the gently haunted caboose) is only $1.00. Children 3 and under are free. You can’t beat a deal like that! We were surprised at how cute and family-friendly this attraction was! It’s much more sweet than spooky, just perfect for younger children.
The kids loved it! They had a fun time walking through and checking out the different themed pumpkins. They even spotted a few small farm animals roaming the grounds!
The haunted caboose (which is an actual 1941 Southern Pacific caboose) is a little spookier. There are Halloween lights and decor, a few little things that move and make noise, but nothing too scary. The kids were a little nervous as they approached but quickly gathered their courage went right in!
They immediately wanted to go through again!
The price to go through the corn maze is $.25. Twenty five cents, people.
It’s very simple. Short and easy to navigate. Again, perfect for younger kids. It was a little muddy, but hey- it’s a path that leads through a field of corn! What do you expect? The kids had an absolute blast!
Extra bonus: On the way out we were informed that each child could take a small pumpkin for FREE as a thank you for visiting their farm!
When all was said and done our party of two adults and three children (all 3 and under) were able to visit the forest, caboose, hay maze and leave with 3 pumpkins for a grand total of $2.50!
We had a great experience at Vince Woods Farm and will definitely be back! This is a wonderful family oriented business that is definitely worth supporting!
